clay / fiber / visual artist
Fanny Penny is a clay, fiber, and visual artist based in Ojai, CA. Pull on the weft thread of her body of work, and you'll discover that all her pieces are connected. They hail from a realm woven by her imagination. The landscape in this realm is influenced by her love for magical realism and inspired by world creators such as Moebius and Hayao Miyazaki.
In turn, her work lies in the space between our world and the realm she’s dubbed, Ardea - a spirit realm that looks and feels like Tatooine and Moebius’ Edena made a love child.
As a sci-fi/fantasy nerd, Fanny often pulls reference from her favorite comic books, deep cut ambient music records, and other trippy bits and pieces of stardust to create rich narratives behind each piece. You could say she’s woo-woo…but really, she’s just a girl who can’t wait to finally go to comic-con.
